Leaders in Health Care Programs
for Retirees The New England Association of Labor Retirees, Inc. (NEALR) was incorporated
in 1995 as a non-profit association in the state of Rhode Island.
The goals of NEALR Are:
- To negotiate and develop cost savings benefits, such as eye care, dental,
prescription drugs and Medicare insurance plans for ALL labor retirees in New
England.
- To provide a forum for labor retirees to come together to discuss common
interests in health care
- To establish a framework for community action
- To maintain a forum for communication among labor retirees
Over the past decade several health care programs have been established to
provide cost savings that has benefited labor retirees. In the process linkages
have been developed among labor retiree chapter leaders, organized labor and
both State and Federal political leaders.
NEALR health care programs are open to all labor retirees and their spouses.
These programs are primarily discounts for the cost of services with each
retiree being eligible through his or her retiree chapter or the HealthLink
Project.
HealthLink is an ongoing wellness program that operates under the auspices of
NEALR, Roger Williams Medical Center and Boston University.
The HealthLink Program has received the endorsement of the Rhode Island
AFL/CIO, which has been instrumental in promoting HealthLink among labor union
retirees throughout southern New England.
It epitomizes all the primary goals of NEALR -
Through community resource partnerships and community activism a forum is
established for the betterment of the retirees and their spouses. |
